Attack may not be sectarian

Dissident loyalists are believed to have planted a pipe-bomb on the window-sill of a house in Armagh yesterday

Dissident loyalists are believed to have planted a pipe-bomb on the window-sill of a house in Armagh yesterday. The device, similar to one used in an attack on Monday, was defused by British army bomb experts.

It was discovered at a house in Killuney Drive in the city following a telephone warning. Twenty-five homes were evacuated during the security operation.

Dissident loyalists were suspected of planting the device. However, an RUC spokesman said at this stage the attack was not being treated as sectarian.

Meanwhile, the RUC is treating the death of Ms Margaret Johnston (52) as murder. Ms Johnston's body was discovered in her home in Montreal Street, off the Shankill Road, yesterday. A man is being questioned in connection with her death.
