Members of the secondary school teachers' union ASTI have voted to ballot its members on the Government's latest offer on supervision and substitution payments.

Delegates at the two-day convention in Dublin passed the motion by 309 votes to 136.

The Government's offer of €37 per hour for voluntary supervision and substitution has already been accepted by the other two main teaching unions, the INTO and the TUI.

Delegates are also likely to consider the benchmarking recommendations of a 13 per cent pay increase.
