Plans by secondary teachers to take industrial action moved forward at the weekend when the ASTI elected six members to a strategy committee, writes Emmet Oliver.

At a meeting in Dublin three members of the union's central executive council and three members of its standing committee were elected to the committee, which will consider what forms of action should be taken. Those elected were Mr Noel Buckley, Ms Patricia Wroe, Ms Susie Hall, Mr Pat Cahill, Mr Damian Cooke and Ms Maura Collins.
