Yerevan - Armenian President Robert Kocharyan fired Prime Minister Aram Sarksyan and his government yesterday over what he said were intrigues aimed against him.

Under the constitution, the entire government must resign when a prime minister is dismissed. Kocharyan said he believed certain ministers had been stirring up trouble and he signed a separate order removing Defence Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan at once. Other ministers will serve in a temporary capacity until a new cabinet is named.
