Turkey coach Senol Gunes on has included Alpay Ozalan in his 23-man squad for the Euro 2004 playoff matches against Latvia, ending speculation that the defender's international career could be over.

Media reports had indicated Gunes was mulling over whether to call up Alpay again after he was involved in a spat with England captain David Beckham at last month's qualifier in Istanbul.

English club Aston Villa have since ended Alpay's contract by mutual consent.

There was only one change from the Turkey squad for the England game, with in-form midfielder Tumer Metin replacing his injured Besiktas team mate Sergen Yalcin.

Sergen flew to Switzerland yesterday for treatment on a groin injury and is expected to be out for around a fortnight. Turkey play Latvia in Riga on November 15th and in Istanbul on November 19th.
