Tirana - Albania's main opposition parties said yesterday they would not recognise the recent parliamentary election won by the ruling Socialist party and would stay away from parliament.

Mr Sali Berisha, who leads an opposition rightist coalition of his Democratic Party and four smaller parties, said police had intimidated voters and that there had been vote-rigging.
