Ankara - Turkey has begun flying emergency aid to north-western Anatolia, after main roads leading to the region were either jammed or damaged, officials said.

"We have established an air corridor between the military air base in Etimesgut [in Ankara] and the airport in Golcuk [in north-western Turkey]," said acting chairman of the Turkish Red Crescent, Mr Nurettin Ozdemir.

Golcuk, a small town on the shores of the Marmara Sea, was one of the areas worst hit by the earthquake
