A High Court action taken by a woman against the Coombe Hospital, Dublin, after she claimed an amount of afterbirth was left in her womb for 17 days after her child was born was struck out yesterday.

Ms Jacquie Mew, Croftwood Grove, Ballyfermot, Dublin, had taken the case originally in the Circuit Court and lost her action for negligence against the Board of Guardians and Directors of the Coombe Hospital. Yesterday, she appealed to the High Court and the hearing began.

Later, after out of court negotiations between the parties, Mr Aongus O Brolchain SC, for Ms Mew, asked Mr Justice Flood for an order to strike out the action with no order as to costs.
