The Police Service of Northern Ireland has said that about 80 people were involved in rioting in the Whitewell Road area of north Belfast at the weekend. Petrol-bombs were thrown during the disturbances, which broke out on Saturday night.
One man was arrested for riotous behaviour. In a separate incident in north Belfast a woman was attacked as she was being treated by an ambulance crew on the Limestone Road. A man and a woman arrested following the incident were later released.
Two men were stabbed in separate incidents on the Antrim Road in north Belfast on Saturday. One received stab wounds to his back, and the other was injured in his head and upper body. They were taken to the Mater Hospital where their condition was described as comfortable.
Four police officers were injured after responding to reports of a disturbance in Portrush, Co Antrim.
Two of the officers, who were called out to Manse Avenue in the town, needed hospital treatment. One had his wrist broken in four places. The other had jaw and facial injuries. Two people were arrested following the incident.
Meanwhile, the civilian British Ministry of Defence worker injured in a dissident republican bomb attack in Co Derry remains critically ill in Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
The 49-year-old man suffered serious lower-body, arm and head injuries when a bomb exploded in the British army training camp at Magilligan.
