Cairo - Sudanese rebels killed 405 government troops in fighting over the weekend, the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) said.
The rebels called it "the biggest defeat inflicted" on Khartoum this year, adding that more than 700 other troops were wounded near the Ethiopian border.
