1.7m plastic bags saved, chain says

The supermarket chain Super quinn says it has saved 1.7 million plastic bags this year by switching to a reusable "green bag" it sells for 99p. It has called on other retailers to join it in a campaign to reduce litter. More than 500 million plastic bags are used in Ireland annually.
