THEIR picture makes them look like a pair of hot shot lawyers in a legal drama created by David E Kelly but Hourihan & Hourihan are actually a husband and wife team who run a practice of a different kind – a troubleshooting property management company in the UK. In business together for over a year but with over 20 years experience in property between them, Hampshire based David and Nina Hourihan, centre, manage property in England and Wales and want to manage UK residential and commercial property for Irish investors.
Mayo-born David says most investors are now consolidating their portfolios “looking at what they’ve got and deciding whether to hold onto it or not. Our job is to protect what they have, make sure tenants are happy and be available to respond when issues arise.
“We will go to landlords in Ireland and report what’s happening face-to-face quarterly,” he says. Finding a professional property advisor in the UK “who truly understands and can relate to the needs of the Irish investor” can be difficult. He believes that when the market picks up Irish investors will be back in force in the UK.
