Developer Bryan Cullen of Jackson Homes has been granted planning permission by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for a residential development on his 45-hectare site at Beechpark in Stillorgan, Co Dublin.
The plan is to build 400 residential units and six autistic person's units, a 361 sq m (3,886 sq ft) crèche, a 1,401 sq m (15,080 sq ft) gymnasium, autistic persons care unit/elderly person's care unit, all in 17 buildings ranging from two to eight stories.
This would involve the demolition of two existing houses, numbers 1 and 3 Farmleigh Avenue and three vacant school buildings.
Cullen of Jackson Homes was previously refused planning permission by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for a 437-unit residential development, a 1,310 sq m (14,100 sq ft) gymnasium at basement level, residential care units for six autistic people and 26 old people's apartments.
Bryan Cullen bought the site beside St John of God Hospital over a year ago for €33 million.
Mixed development planned at Ballyogan
A major development to the rear of Leopardstown Valley Shopping Centre will provide a mix of offices, shops, a supermarket, health centre and a community centre.
Viscount Securities has got the go-ahead to build a 20,604 sq m (221,779 sq ft) mixed-use development on 9.8 acres at Ballyogan Road and Avenue in Kilgobbin, Dublin 18.
The development comprises a mixed-use two-storey building with a supermarket, 10 shops, a public library, community centre and health centre and three office blocks.
It is also proposing a single-storey childcare facility, a two-storey commercial recreational facility and a central pedestrian route that will link with the proposed Luas stop on Ballyogan Road. There will be 461 surface car-parking spaces, external public areas and landscaping.
