Fast-Food chain McDonalds is to open an outlet at Irishtown Central, a new shopping arcade beside Golden Island Shopping Centre in Athlone. It will be paying around £80,000 for 3,500 sq ft, which will be ready for fit-out next month. The other tenants in the arcade are Adams Childrenswear, Clarks Shoes, Birthday Cards, Xtra-Vision and O'Hagan Technology. Rents average £25 per sq ft. Harrington Bannon is seeking tenants for the two remaining units of 250 and 800 sq ft. In Dublin, the same agency has let a restaurant of 5,550 sq ft on two levels at 38/39 Lower Ormond Quay to Pizza Express at a rent of £90,000.
