Four-bed on a redbrick terrace

Glenageary: €1.35m: Lisney is asking €1

Glenageary: €1.35m: Lisney is asking €1.35 million for a Victorian four-bedroom house at 1 Adelaide Terrace on Adelaide Road in Glenageary, Co Dublin.

The end-of-terrace bay-windowed house was withdrawn from auction last autumn and is now for sale by private treaty. Lisney is hoping for renewed interest this month since there are few family homes for sale in the neighbourhood at present.

A house on the same terrace sold last summer for a price believed to be around €1.5 million.

Number 1 is a spacious house with just over 190 sq m (2,050 sq ft) of accommodation. The 45 ft back garden ends in a garage that has rear access to a laneway. Inside, it's an impressive home with some very ornate plasterwork in the hall and reception rooms as well as fine period fireplaces.

The current owners use the first floor front room as the drawingroom - as was originally intended - though new owners may convert this into the main bedroom. It's a big airy room, over 20 ft long, with a view over an area of green across the road.

At hall level there is a fine formal diningroom and a study which is used as a bedroom. A rear hallway leads to a sittingroom and the eat-in kitchen overlooking the garden.

There is a double bedroom on the first return, an additional bedroom on the first floor with the fourth bedroom and the family bathroom on the second return.

Adelaide Road, which links Glasthule village with Glenageary Road, is a busy location, but it's also a convenient one with the DART, shops and a number of schools within easy reach.
