BUSINESSMAN Harry Crosbie has secured planning permission to develop a three and four-storey building at Thomas Street and Vicar Street for use as 600-seater theatre to be known as the Christy Moore Centre for Performing Arts. However, the planners refused permission for another element of the scheme, a five-storey building at 60 Thomas Street to contain 11 apartments, two retail units and a workshop.

Meanwhile Iarnod Eireann has secured permission to develop a new DART station and retail units at Barrow Street.

Dublin Corporation has given notice of its intention to grant planning permission for a neighbourhood centre at Grand Canal Quay, Dublin 2. Ballycullen Farm plans to develop a two-storey commercial and retail centre with a floor area of around 18,000 square feet.

In south Dublin, Jackson Properties has lodged a planning application to build 63 two-storey houses and 80 apartments on the site of a print works at Butterfield Avenue, Rathfarnham.
