Fashion students are kicking up a storm next week, beginning with DCU’s The Edge of Industry fashion show on Tuesday, March 23rd, which is run by its “style society” in the Mahony Hall at 8pm.
Meanwhile, Lucy Keogh in DIT has secured sponsorship from Alfa Romeo for the college’s “Rock Revolution” show in Vicar Street on Wednesday, March 24th at 8pm. More than 70 students are involved in running the show, 41 of whom have been recruited as models. And if that wasn’t enough, the Nokia Young Fashion Designer Award also takes place on Wednesday evening, when the winner of the €5,000 prize will be announced from a shortlist of 20 finalists selected from design colleges all over Ireland, including Niamh Rafferty and Aine Kilbride (left) from the Grafton Academy. The exhibition will be open to the public from Thursday, March 25th to Sunday, March 28th in the Powerscourt Centre, Dublin. Next month will see eight finalists compete for the Persil Awards, which is the largest student competition thanks to its €10,000 prize. Their brief – a white washable outfit.
