The photographs from Brazilian artist Beth Moysés’s performance Mosaico branco por 60 mulheres feature the striking spectacle of 60 women, all wearing their wedding dresses and each carrying a piece of marble, making their way in procession to the open space in front of the São Bento Monastery in São Paolo. There, the individual pieces of marble take their place in a mosaic. It’s a hugely optimistic, communal action and typical of Moysés’s work in performance, photography, video and installation, which deals with the reality of women’s lives, including the issue of domestic abuse.

The video piece Gotejando (Dripping), also in the exhibition, symbolises the bonds between mother and daughter as a child “sews tear-shaped pearls, taken from her mother’s dress, into her own dress”. Moysés’s aim is to engage with her audience immediately and positively.
