The European Commission has restated its intention to tax digital sales of music, videos and software downloaded directly from companies situated outside the European Union into personal computers.

But it would not table any proposals in the coming months, according to Commission spokesman, Mr Jonathan Todd.

"I can tell you we're going to present a proposal before the summer," Mr Todd said.
