Dr Michael Smurfit, chairman and chief executive of Jefferson Smurfit and chairman of Smurfit Stone, has been selected as chief executive officer of the year in the paper/forest products industry by members of the US financial community. Dr Smurfit was selected from a survey of more than 200 analysts, investment managers and portfolio managers.
