IRELAND should continue to achieve growth rates well above the European Union average over the next few years, the Minister for Finance, Mr Quinn, has told the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington.

Mr Quinn, addressing the meeting as IMF governor for Ireland and President of the Council of the EU, said that despite the many positive aspects to the growth of the Irish economy, unemployment remained unacceptably high.
