The British Office of Fair Trade in has said that it was considering whether to investigate Scottish Radio's £9.7 million sterling takeover of Downtown Radio in Northern Ireland and whether the takeover should be referred to the Mergers and Monopolies Commission.

But as Scottish Radio has no other radio interests in Ireland, industry sources believe that an OFT investigation is unlikely.
