Executives of troubled Canadian telecoms equipment maker Newbridge Networks told staff yesterday the company is open to takeover offers.

The company made a presentation to employees before releasing second-quarter results which were in line with a profit warning earlier this month. It also said it will cut 10 per cent of its staff and some manufacturing operations. It employs 24 people at its logistics and distribution centre in Shannon, Co Clare.
