The leader of the Fine Gael Group in the European parliament, Senator Avril Doyle, yesterday called on the Minister of Public Enterprise, Ms O'Rourke to put an immediate stay of execution on the decision by An Post to significantly increase its newspaper postal charges. Ms Doyle said that the Minister should carry out an immediate investigation into why An Post imposed the increases now when EU directives did not require it to be implemented until February of next year.
