Esat Digifone has introduced a new scheme aimed at small and medium companies which it claims can save users around 34 per cent on their current Telecom Eireann bills.

The system, called Beeline, is aimed at companies with up to 75 mobile phones, and which make calls from the office to Digifone mobiles frequently.

Once the system is installed, all calls to Digifone mobiles remain on the Digifone mobile network. All calls are charged at the Digifone mobile to mobile rate which is 12.5p per minute (excluding VAT). This compares with 19p per minute (excluding VAT) to Telecom Eireann phones, according to Digifone.

Digifone said yesterday that calls to and from mobiles represented a significant and increasing proportion of total communications bills.
