Eircom told the telecoms regulator last night that it would withdraw its high-speed internet product, i-stream, if she imposed a new charges structure on the firm.
Ms Etain Doyle wants Eircom to lower the fees it would charge other telecoms operators to enable them to supply similar internet services using new technologies.
Eircom provided additional details on its charge structure shortly after a 5 p.m. deadline, set by the regulator, passed last night. An Eircom spokesman said the firm may seek legal redress or withdraw the i-stream service if Ms Doyle directed Eircom to change its charges.
Eircom is proposing to charge other telecoms operators monthly fees of €75 (£59), and a hefty once-off connection fee, to provide a similar service over its local network.
