Equipment to receive digital television went on sale in Britain yesterday as Skydigital chief executive Mr Mark Booth predicted 20,000 customers will sign up this week.

He visited Dixons electrical retailers in London's Oxford Street where the first set was sold at midnight. Awareness of digital television was high, he said. Mr Booth admitted some consumers were still confused about digital television.
