THE general manager of Dublin's Berkeley Court Hotel, Mr Anthony Rooney, has left the Doyle Hotel Group.
Mr Rooney, who has been with the company for more than 23 years, left the Dublin hotel to "pursue other interests", the Doyle Hotel Group said. He has been general manager of the Berkeley Court for more than eight years.
Mr Rooney was unavailable for comment yesterday but industry sources believe he will now pursue a career in the tourism sector.
Recruited to the group by its founder, the late P.V. Doyle, Mr Rooney worked at the Green Isle, Skylon, Montrose and Burlington hotels before joining the Berkeley Court.
He is also a former director of CIE. He resigned his position last year following a controversial decision by the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications to remove CIE's former chief executive, Mr Dermot O'Leary, and make changes in its board.
