MORE than half the finance directors at UK companies think accountants make better non-executive directors, it emerged yesterday. They believe more accountants should be made nonexecutive directors board members who have a duty to see a company is well run without being involved in day to day business. Only a tiny fraction think accountants are less suitable than lay people, according to a survey in Accountancy Age magazine.
