The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has said it is alarmed by European Commission plans to force the directors of small firms to consult employees about business plans. ACCA said it was strongly in favour of employee consultation but the element of compulsion should be resisted as it would further add to the burden on small companies which spend as much as half a day a week dealing with bureaucracy at present.
