RACING NEWS:DAVID WACHMAN is among the Irish trainers pondering an attempt on Saturday's Bet 365 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock with his three-year-old filly Unity.

Sixteen fillies remain in the Group Two contest and they also include the Jim Bolger-trained pair Akdarena and Gold Bubbles, as well as Dermot Weld’s Grace O’Malley. It is 24 years since the last Irish-trained winner of the race, Bolger’s Park Express, and any attempt this time will have to consider how to beat last year’s winner, Barshiba.

However, a spokesman for Wachman said yesterday: “Unity has other options but we will weigh things up and if it cuts up she could run at Haydock.”

Unity finished a close third to Grace O’Malley in the Noblesse Stakes at Cork on her last start earlier this month.
