A strong second-half performance by St Conleth's was enough to defeat St Mel's of Longford at Kilcock

A strong second-half performance by St Conleth's was enough to defeat St Mel's of Longford at Kilcock. The early stages were evenly contested but a Barry Rogerson penalty gave St Conleths a 3-0 interval lead.

The losers made a promising start to the second half when Gary Keenan blocked down an attempted clearance and then gathered possession for a try.

However, the Dublin side dominated for the rest of the game and took the lead thanks to another Rogerson penalty in the 53rd minute.

A try each by James Keappock and Peter Ashe sealed St Conleth's win.
