JOHNNY MURTAGH took an unexpected fall from Soyinca moments after passing the post as the narrow winner of the Sligo Park Hotel Handicap at Sligo last evening.

The champion jockey was unshipped when Soyinca pulled herself up, giving Murtagh little chance of staying on board.

Murtagh, who was uninjured, said. "I was expecting her to run on down the hill, but she stopped dead on me after the post."

Soyinca was headed by the heavily backed 11 to 10 favourite Maid To Move over a furlong from home, but battled back to win by a neck at odds of 8 to 1 for trainer Tommy Stack.
