Bray Wanderers 0 Limerick City 4:FIRST DIVISION Limerick pulled off a major shock when beating Premier Division outfit Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds last night.
Pat Scully’s side were deserving winners against a frustrated Bray side reduced to nine men late on after Adam Mitchell and Danny O’Connor were sent off by referee Rob Rogers.
Bray were to regret wasting two chances in the first half when Limerick broke the deadlock three minutes before the break. A long ball from Denis Behan was not properly cleared by goalkeeper Darren Quigley to allow midfielder Paudie Quinn to fire home from the edge of the area.
Substitute John Mulroy fired narrowly over for Bray before disaster struck for the home side in the 74th minute when they had Mitchell and O’Connor sent off by the Dublin referee.
Mitchell was shown the red card for a tackle on Quinn and the same fate befell O’Connor for arguing persistently with the referee over the decision. Denis Behan made no mistake with the resulting penalty. Substitute Garbhan Goughlan added a third goal on 86 minutes and the Quinn fired home his second.
