Sage confirmed for Curragh

RALPH BECKETT has confirmed the participation of Desert Sage in Sunday’s Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh. The Selkirk filly carries the same colours of Julian Richmond-Watson as the trainer’s Epsom Oaks winner Look Here.

Desert Sage has not shown that level of form, finishing fourth to Principal Role in the Swettenham Stud Fillies’ Trial at Newbury, but she took a Chepstow maiden in comfortable fashion last month.

“She’ll run,” said Beckett. “She’ll leave tomorrow, stay overnight in north Wales and arrive in Ireland on Saturday.”

Ken Condon is unsure whether unbeaten two-year-old Zabaleta will take his chance in the Jebel Ali Stables And Racecourse Anglesey Stakes. The grey dead-heated on his only start so far at Fairyhouse a couple of weeks ago but may not appreciate softening conditions at the Curragh.
