Roscommon power surge
Roscommon 4-15 Leitrim 2-3:ROSCOMMON SURGED to a facile win over Leitrim at Páirc Seán MhicDiarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday. In the fifth minute Diarmuid Murtagh goaled after a first-minute point by Kevin Finn. A Nicholas Moore goal in the 10th minute reduced the arrears but Roscommon landed another goal from the kick-out through Kevin Finn.
Roscommon extended their lead as they dominated midfield to finish the half ahead by 2-7 to 1-0.
Enda Smith scored Roscommon’s third goal within a minute of the restart before Leitrim substitute Niall Brady hit the net in the 35th minute. However, Leitrim’s challenge faded as Roscommon forwards scored six points from play and the victors finished on a high when Kevin Finn scored his second and Roscommon’s fourth goal in extra time.
