A rampant Cork avenged last year's shock defeat by Tipperary when they trounced the home side in last night's provincial semi-final at Ardfinnan.

Cork corner forward Philip Clifford shook Tipperary with the opening goal in the third minute.

All Star Declan Browne kept Tipperary in touch with two points. But when centre forward Brendan O'Sullivan crashed home Cork's second goal after eight minutes, Tipperary were in serious trouble.

Midfielder Tew O hAilpin ended the game as a contest when he had Cork's third goal in the 25th minute.

In the 42nd minute, half forward Tim Deasy got Cork's fourth goal. D Browne got through for Tipperary's consolation goal in the 54th minute.
