Rainbow Frontier to shine

Those who thought the Aidan O'Brien steamroller may have caught the hiccups after King of Kings' Curragh flop provoked rumours of illness in the stable have had to eat their words. O'Brien has been comfortably the most successful trainer at Killarney this week and he can round the festival off in typical fashion with Rainbow Frontier in the Dawn Milk Run Handicap.

It may be a small field for this £7,000 race but it's still quite competitive. Sambara was a disappointment in Tuesday's Murphys Hurdle but cannot be ruled out and her stablemate The Regal Royal cannot be either but the finish could be fought out by the old rivals, Le Ciel and Rainbow Frontier.

The two have clashed twice this season, each having the edge once. Rainbow Frontier won at the Curragh in early June, beating Le Ciel by a length over 11 furlongs while here in May Le Ciel finished two lengths ahead when the pair chased home Beach Project.

Rainbow Frontier has also won over 13 furlongs at Wexford this season and could have the edge today. Le Ciel was a big disappointment at the Curragh over the Derby weekend when well behind Lady Generous which is hardly encouraging going into today's race.

Rainbow Frontier in contrast ran a typically game race when third to Jawah at Bellewstown on his last start and with the O'Brien horses in such good form it is difficult to oppose.

Racing opens with the Manny Bernstein Novice Hurdle where it's hard to ignore the claims of Dovaly. The Michael O'Brien trained runner has been an impressive winner of his last two starts at Cork and Navan and looks good for a hat-trick.

Paddy Mullins could also be in for a good Killarney wind up. Legal Storm was confidently expected to make a winning debut at Roscommon in early June but could never quite get to grips with Kinnegad Girl and gave best by two lengths.

Nevertheless, the five-year-old remains highly rated by the Mullins team and with the ground in his favour, Legal Storm should be much too strong for Pharawaydream in the Aghadoe Flat Race.

River Valley Lady can earlier have set Mullins up for a double. A notably consistent performer on the flat and over hurdles, this filly broke her duck over flights at Tipperary towards the end of June, easily beating Jacky Flynn and Alambar.

Today's Dawn Fresh Cream Handicap Hurdle is an altogether tougher assignment but River Valley Lady's overall form is impressive in this context and she could find herself more at home on this ground than Michael Hourigan's Honey Trader.
