Two games dominate the Leinster Senior League tomorrow in the continuing struggle to join Pembroke Wanderers and Glenanne in the All-Ireland play-offs. YMCA are at home to their closest rivals Corinthians while Three Rock Rovers welcome Monkstown to Grange Road.
It was expected that Shane Davey would make his debut in the Monkstown goal against his former clubmates but the registration formalities remain to be completed. The most hectic activity of the weekend takes place in Kilkenny College where Leinster appear to have the deepest pool of talent to take both the under-18 and under-16 interprovincial titles.
Ronan Gormley of Sandford Park leads a Leinster senior side which has a strong element from the Wesley team that reached the schools' championship final at Halloween. Munster cannot count on the more mature figures who drove Ashton to success in that tournament, though Philip McLoughlin can spur the younger Bandon-Ashton brigade. Ulster spearheaded by Aaron Mills, will also make it hard for Leinster.
At junior level, however, Leinster may well be the dominant force, for Alec Barrett, Neil Lyons and Gareth Watkins show a zest for the game that will be hard to match.
