Offaly suffered their third defeat in the Oireachtas Cup, losing to Galway in a game switched to Tullamore when the Birr pitch was declared unplayable.

Galway, having played against a strong breeze, were happy to change ends on level terms - 0-11 to 2-5. The goals which kept Offaly in contention came from Johnny Dooley, who flicked home Willie Comerford's long free in the 11th minute, and Conor Gath, who doubled on a Dooley free.

Within 18 second of the resumption Rory Gantley applied the finish to Fergal Healy's penetrating solo run, and Galway added a second goal through Alan Kerins 10 minutes from the end.
