Esat Telecom yesterday became an official sponsor of the Olympic Council of Ireland for the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. The team to be sent to the Games will be one of the largest ever sent to an Olympics with more than 100 Irish athletes competing in 12 disciplines.

The official sponsor tag takes the communications company into the elite club of around a dozen or so companies who are sanctioned Olympic sponsors.
