Ronan O'Gara was the hero of the hour for Cork Constitution in their AIL Division One win over Lansdowne at Templehill on Saturday when kicking 16 of their 26 points. O'Gara (22) was successful with four penalties and two conversions as he inspired the Cork side to a morale boosting win.

Cork Constitution forced the pace from the kick-off with New Zealand lock Roger Newell giving them an early supremacy in the line outs and with their pack rucking and mauling extremely well they afforded O'Gara a couple of early penalties which he duly converted.

Lansdowne were struggling badly at this stage and not even a Kurt McQuilkin dropped goal could prevent Constitution's onslaught.

Lansdowne eventually began to take some shape and a Marcus Dillon try 10 minutes before the interval gave them some hope for the second period.

Rory Kearns followed up his successful conversion from Dillon's try with two penalties shortly after the resumption to level matters but Cork Constitution bounced back in tremendous style to once again open up a lead which they held on to.
