AIRTRICITY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Bray Wanderers 2 Bohemians 1:BRAY WANDERERS recorded their third win of the season when goals in each half by Jason Byrne and Danny O'Connor gave them a narrow victory over Bohemians in a tense clash at the Carlisle Grounds last night.
Pat Devlin’s young side were fully deserving winners.
The Seagulls had their noses in front on 16 minutes when a long clearance out of defence by Kevin Knight allowed veteran striker Byrne to outpace Evan Millan on the left and then fire in a brilliant angled shot from 15 yards past goalkeeper Craig Sexton for his sixth goal of the season.
Bohemians went close to an equaliser just three minutes later when a low cross from the right by Peter McMahon was cleared off the line by central defender O’Connor after goalkeeper Darren Quigley had slipped.
Bohemians were back on level terms on the half hour when Keith Ward collected a weak clearance from the Bray defence to send over a cross from the right which was headed home from close range by Dinny Corcoran.
The visitors again went close when Keith Buckley supplied a perfect ball for McMahon only for the striker to fire across the face of the goal when well placed.
Bohs looked the more dangerous side after the break but Bray regained the lead on the hour after a foul by Bohs substitute Derek Pender on Marty Waters. From the resulting free by Knight, Jason Byrne and John Mulroy combined cleverly to allow skipper O’Connor to head home.
