The Christmas outing of the Christy O'Connor jnr Oyster golf society at Connemara golf club on Thursday had to be reduced to nine holes due to incessant early rain. However, in a faultless first nine, Michael Heaslip from Galway golf club had 24 points off a 17 handicap. Heaslip finished three clear of Tony Cremin (Enniscrone), who beat Michael Tighe (Tuam) on a countback for second. Nine handicapper John McMahon of Ballinrobe won the gross with 16 points.
