Club chairman John Elsom is understood to have spoken to Taylor over the weekend. Although he is making no public comment, it is believed former England under-21 coach Taylor would jump at the chance of taking charge of the Worthington Cup holders.
Dave Jones is set to argue his case against Southampton at a Premier League tribunal on June 21st.

But the former Stockport manager does not believe he should have been sidelined, even though he remains on full pay.

It is expected that the European September to May calendar will be accepted, although there is also a rival proposal to move all seasons to a February-November schedule.
