Neither team got the result they wanted in their first league outing but there seems to have been a stark contrast in their respective performances. UCD were well outplayed by Shamrock Rovers while Dundalk were left slightly aggrieved by the margin of their defeat in Cork. Jim McLaughlin will be somewhat better off this evening with Raymond Campbell sufficiently recovered from an groin injury to figure in his plans. With the former Linfield player back in midfield the home side will be hoping to rediscover the goal-scoring touch they showed in their League Cup group.

UCD, meanwhile, may be unchanged despite what Dr Tony O'Neill described as a "very disappointing" performance against Rovers. Terry Palmer is still a few weeks away from full fitness although Jason Sherlock may be in contention for a start.
