MY CLUB: St Brigid's women's football

Tony Doogan has been chairman of Dublin County Board senior and minor women's football. Seven years ago he founded the women's section of St Brigid's GAA club in response to the huge interest in the game from girls in his school. He now teaches and coaches at St Peter's College.

As well as senior coach at St Brigid's, the fastest growing women's GAA club in the country, Dooney has been elected chairman of the All-Ireland Schools women's football to develop the game around the country.

Membership: It's in excess of 100 right now between the under-10 to under-18 teams and our two senior teams. This is the first year that we've had teams in every available grade and it's growing all the time.

Status: The main club competition for all age groups would be the Dublin county championships and a number of our members also play on the inter-county teams. Our senior team made it to division one and we hope to enter a second team in the league also.

Honours: Our under-16 and under-18s are county champions while the other two juvenile divisions were county finalists. The senior team lost their first county final to Portobello but to be honest I think our best is yet to come.

Finest Hour: To get any player on a county team is a great moment but personally just to see how much the women's game has grown and watch all the young girls show so much interest in playing is fantastic.

Worst Moment: Nothing stands out although it is a problem sometimes to get parents involved or find quality coaches to take charge of the teams.

Club Hero: The other three faces behind the club, Gerry Lally, Patricia Donaghy and Ray Noonan, all do trojan work while some of our county representatives such as Christina McGinty or Joanna Cantwell bring great honour to the club.

Greatest Rivals: On a county level that would definitely be Ballyboden St Enda's who we often meet in juvenile finals along with Portobello at adult level.
