The 23 year old Dermot Weld apprentice was riding his first winner for Jim Bolger on only his second outing for the Coolcullen trainer.

Far Niente, ridden by Michael Kinane, was sent off a strong even money favourite having beaten Last Project at Gowran Park but, as he dropped out in the straight, Last Project stayed on well to record a three length success in very testing conditions.

Conor Everard received a nasty looking fall when Celtic Project drifted left and then ducked right, unseating him 50 yards from the line in the Heineken Handicap Chase.

Celtic Project was very tired but three lengths clear at the time and his early exit left the way clear for Kinane to win on Three Rivers.

Eddie Ahern continued his good run when taking the Royal Exchange Pub Handicap on Island Rock, trained by Pat Martin.

High flying Ahern now looks forward to his first ride in England where he rides Loki for Geoff Lewis in an apprentice race at Windsor on Monday.

Trevor Horgan took the opening two races to record his first double of the season. He won on 11-10 favourite Shanrue in the Strandhill Maiden Hurdle and runaway winner, Loughatalia in the handicap hurdle.

Caragh Bridge won the Heineken Sligo Handicap Chase, in which there were only four figishers, by all of 20 lengths for Conor O'Dwyer and trainer, Martin Lynch.
