The identity of the rider of Indigenous in Saturday's King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot will finally be confirmed today.

That is when Mick Kinane, who has been offered the mount on the six-year-old, will know whether he is required to ride for Aidan O'Brien in France.

Detailing the situation yesterday afternoon, Kinane's agent John Hanmer, said: "Michael has been offered the ride on Indigenous and will take it if he's available.

"He may be required for Rossini in the Prix Robert Papin at Maisons-Laffitte." The question of who would ride the Ivan Allan-trained Indigenous arose after the horse's regular pilot Douglas Whyte had to undergo an appendix operation last weekend.
