European Women's Championship: Suzanne O'Brien and Alison Coffey are in joint third after the second round over the Karlovy Vary course in the Czech Republic. O'Brien fired a one-under-par 71 for a total of 145 to lie five strokes behind leader Karine Icher and three behind Norway's Suzann Pettersen. Coffey added a 75 yesterday to her first round 70.

Jacques Leglise Trophy: Galway's Mark Sullivan will sit out the foursomes as the Britain and Ireland boys open the defence of their title in Somerset this morning. But Sullivan (17) will face Swiss teenager Raphael de Souza in the afternoon singles.

Boys Interprovincial Championship: Title holders Connacht had their second win in the championship series for this year when they defeated Ulster by 5 1/2 to 3 1/2 at Roscommon GC yesterday. Leinster overcame Munster by 6 1/2 to 2 1/2.
